The Fizz is a newsletter about the history and future of the American wine world.
Welcome to The Fizz by me, Margot. I’m a sommelier, wine educator, and consultant based in Boston. You can learn more about me here. This newsletter is going to be mostly containing interviews with women in wine—winemakers, sommeliers, shop owners and employees, servers, farmers, and everyone in between. There will also be some deep dives into specific wine-related topics, such as the history of American winemaking, a look into wine additives, and the technical side of preventing wine from turning into vinegar (wine nerd stuff).
Each week, we’ll focus on topics pertaining to the wine world, from biodynamics to buying trends. We’ll talk through issues around diversity, farming and labor practices, grape genealogy, and so much more. I’m really excited to see this newsletter evolve and grow with you and your interests.
You can support me in this work by subscribing—this will fuel my research and let me know that this sort of work is valuable. You can help me along with a paid subscription, or subscribe for free. Monthly subscriptions are $5/month, annual is a bit cheaper at $50/year, and of course, there’s a founding member option if you want to be extra nice to me at $100/year. 20% of all proceeds go to the St. Francis House.
I can’t wait for our first issue! See you soon in your inbox.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
